Lamborghini Marks the Miura’s 60th Anniversary with a Special Edition

Presented in 1966, the Miura was Lamborghini’s first major emancipatory step in its constant comparison with market leader Ferrari. With its innovative technology and aesthetics, the Miura was to profoundly shape the history of Lamborghini, as well as the entire supercar segment. For the Miura’s 60th anniversary, Lamborghini is now presenting a special edition limited to 99 examples. With historical colors, characteristic two-tone paint finishes, and selected design details, Lamborghini commemorates the Miura and transfers its design signature to the modern proportions and sculptural surfaces of the Revuelto, the brand’s current high-performance flagship.

When Lamborghini presented the Miura  in 1966, the company was only three years old. The young manufacturer faced the challenge of establishing itself as an independent, strong brand. Performance alone was not enough – high speeds were already a given in the supercar segment. Therefore, design became particularly crucial. And so, the Miura  marked that important moment when Lamborghini began to develop its own design identity—independent of the great competitor from Maranello.

The bodywork, designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone, played a central role. With its flat silhouette and the transversely mounted twelve-cylinder engine behind the seats, it permanently changed the idea of what a supercar could look like. In retrospect, Gandini explained the success of the Miura  by stating that the design was “incredibly innovative” without completely breaking with the design conventions of its time. It was precisely this combination of innovation and formal compatibility that made the Miura  the starting point for an independent Lamborghini design history.

60 years later, Lamborghini now commemorates this significant chapter in the company’s history with the Revuelto Miura 60° Homage. The special edition, limited to just 99 units, was created as part of the Ad Personam  customization program in collaboration with the Lamborghini Centro Stile  and will celebrate its world premiere in mid-August at Monterey Car Week 2026.

Instead of reinterpreting the Miura, the Revuelto Miura 60° Homage  adopts selected design elements from the original. Nine historical exterior colors, including Rosso Arancio, Verde Scandal, or Blu Tahiti, echo classic Miura  paint finishes. Additionally, there are two exclusive two-tone configurations with contrasting lower body sections—a feature of numerous historical Miura  models. Gold or titanium-colored wheels and a specially developed »Miura 60« emblem complete the look.

Inside, Lamborghini also incorporates design references. The seats, with their characteristic »Cannelloni« pattern, echo the Miura’s  upholstery, while leather extends over the center console and door panels. Between the seats, a “Miura 60” embroidery refers to the special edition, while a carbon plaque identifies each vehicle as one of 99 units. Owners of a historical Miura  can also, in collaboration with Ad Personam, have the original color configuration of their own vehicle faithfully recreated.

»With the Revuelto Miura 60° Homage, we wanted to create a special series capable of celebrating a milestone in our history through an exclusive interpretation of our V12 HPEV super sports car,« explains Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. »The combination of heritage-inspired liveries, exclusive Ad Personam  details and production limited to just 99 examples expresses the connection between our heritage and the virtually limitless personalization capabilities that define Lamborghini.«

A homage that shows that good automotive design can have an impact far beyond its creation. 60 years after its premiere, the Miura  continues to serve as an influential design reference point for the brand and for the design history that Lamborghini continues to write to this day. [Red.]
