In today’s podcast episode, we welcome Domagoj Dukec, Head of BMW Design, as our guest. Born in Frankfurt, he has already worked for renowned design studios from Barcelona to São Paolo to Paris and for brands such as VW and Citroën before moving to BMW in Munich in 2010. There he was responsible for various areas of the BMW Group as a senior designer before finally moving to the head of the BMW design team in 2019. In his role, Domagoj Dukec currently heads a team of over 100 designers who, under his leadership, develop the design language of current and future BMW brand vehicles. He himself calls BMW »the zenith of his profession«, the »place where he always wanted to be«. We spoke to him about the recently presented BMW Concept XM and why it is also called »The Rockstar», about iconic design, which in his opinion does not always have to be clean, and about the psychological aspects that play a role in design.
