Today’s guest at Chapter Talks is Oliver Heilmer, Head of Design for the MINI brand since 2017. Born in Munich, he has been part of the BMW Group design team for around two decades. For him, MINI is a very special brand with a strong history, but it is also in its DNA to constantly develop and change. This balancing act between tradition and future orientation makes his work as Head of Design particularly interesting. We talk to him about his personal sources of inspiration between music and furniture design, the importance of functionality in the design process and why a certain youthful playfulness is always an important part of the MINI brand.
