In this »Chapter Talks« episode, we focus on a very special and exciting genre: bespoke shoemaking. Our guest Korbinian Ludwig Heß has been producing unique handmade pieces for a discerning international clientele, including many celebrities, in his Berlin studio since 2017. The charismatic Berliner-by-choice is one of the few bespoke shoemakers to work exclusively in the traditional way and promises an exclusive pair of quality shoes that will last a lifetime. His personal style is characterized in particular by simple elegance and a connection to minimalism. We spoke to him about the lengthy process involved in developing a truly quality bespoke shoe and the importance of genuine craftsmanship, and he explained why it takes “humility and madness” to do his job.
