Both the illustrated book and the accompanying chronology open up a world in which you can lose yourself and any sense of time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"chapter_text\">\u00bbStop and look closely. Don&#8217;t take anything for granted,\u00ab wrote Anita Wallerstein about a comprehensive retrospective dedicated to the artist Salvador Dal\u00ed at the New York <i>Gallery of Modern Art <\/i>in 1965. The same could well be said of <a href=\"https:\/\/click.linksynergy.com\/deeplink?id=AgT1kX8tWKA&amp;mid=42784&amp;murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.taschen.com%2Fde%2Flimited-editions%2Fart%2F01147%2Fdali-baby-sumo%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener sponsored\">TASCHEN<\/a>\u2019s new limited-edition publication\u2014restricted to 10,000 copies\u2014which explores the Spanish artist\u2019s work across two volumes: an illustrated book and a chronology. Both the richly illustrated volume and its accompanying chronology suggest that Salvador Dal\u00ed should not be seen merely as the emblem of surrealism. Freud famously remarked to Stefan Zweig about Dal\u00ed: \u00bbI have to thank you indeed for the introduction of our visitor of yesterday. Until now, I was inclined to regard the Surrealists\u2014who seem to have adopted me as their patron saint\u2014as one hundred percent fools (let us say 95 percent, as with alcohol). I never use models or paint from life or landscapes. It is all my imagination. While the \u00bb<a href=\"https:\/\/click.linksynergy.com\/deeplink?id=AgT1kX8tWKA&amp;mid=42784&amp;murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.taschen.com%2Fde%2Flimited-editions%2Fsumo%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Baby SUMO<\/a>\u00ab series may not be quite as large in scale, it is no less impressive. The connection between the publishing house, founded by Benedikt Taschen, and Salvador Dal\u00ed is also noteworthy: forty years ago, the publisher released its very first artist monograph on the Spanish master. Titled \u00bbDal\u00ed\u00ab, it spanned 96 pages and was authored by British surrealist Conroy Maddox.
